Barcelona Airport Served 30 Million Passengers in 2010


Barcelona Airport is the second largest airport in Spain. The airport was visited by 29.2 million passengers in 2010. It is located 12 km southwest from the centre of Barcelona. Most of the traffic at the airport is domestic and European as it acts as a gateway to the rest of Europe. The city is known for a number of tourist attractions as well as known for its prominence in hosting vast number of exhibitions, conferences and other international events as well as acting as a sports hub. As one of the most populated cities in Europe and in the Mediterranean coast, Barcelona also holds much economic significance, attracting many business as well as leisure travellers to the city.

Transport at Barcelona Airport is excellent with a number of public transport options as well as rent a car choices being available. If you wish to use the train, the R2 suburban train is linked with the airport and its city centre. There are various bus services that enable you to travel to any part of Barcelona. For example, the Aerobus service departing to Placa de Cataluñya can be taken in front of the terminals. If you wish to visit El Prat, Bus 105 departs from Terminal B and C. Taxi services are available for your convenience outside the terminals and are a 25 to 30 minute ride to the city centre.
Renting a car is another option at Barcelona Airport and this can be done by using any one of the car rental services available in Terminals 1 and 2. Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Sol-Mar are all represented at the airport and make your choices wide. Advance booking is always recommended to ensure timely service and better deals.
