Faro Airport is Your Gate way to Portugal’s Quaint Cities of the South

Faro Airport is located 4km from Faro, Portugal. Considered one of the busiest airports during the summer months of March through October, this airport saw more than 6 million passengers in the past year. However, many tourists tend to head East to visit resorts of Quinta Do Lago, Vilamoura, Lagos and other resorts in Algarve and miss out on the beautiful, quaint city of Faro.
Whether you are directly visiting Faro or using its airport for travelling East, the facilities provided within the airport are exceptional. For example, the airport offers ATM machines and banks; post office, disabled facilities, as well as, shopping and dining. There are a number of duty free shops that enable travellers outside the European Union the ability to purchase high quality items for reasonable prices. There are local handicraft shops, clothing shops, book shops, gift shops and musical shops to consider if you are in the mood for a little shopping between flights.
Any passengers that require wheelchairs or assistance within Faro Airport are able to make their requests when making the reservation. There are lifts and disabled toilets located at various intervals along the airport that make it easy for disabled persons. Disabled car parking is also available outside the terminal entrance of the building.
Tourists who wish to get out of the airport can do so by using public transport, shuttle mini-bus services, or taxis that are available outside the airport. Transport can be arranged to any destination along Algarve and beyond. In addition, if you wish to rent a car, you can do so from any one of the car rental firms at the airport. Pre-booking is recommended as there are many tourists who wish to make use of these facilities and you may have a long wait. If you are using a taxi, it will cost you approximately 35 Euros to Albufeira and double that to Praia de Rocha. Railway option is possible via a 5 km taxi ride to the station. Train journey to Lagos will cost approximately 10 Euros and will take 1 ¾ hours.
